I was on the topic of food in Korean. I’m right before ‘level 1’ for food. And, ForumLanguage taught us that [배] means stomach. But, when it asked for the word again, it marked the word [위] as correct. Does anyone know why?

Also, as you go further in the basics, you’ll also find 위, which will be translated as “above” (what I mean is, there are also several meanings for some words…sorry if I’m confusing. English isn’t my first language). Anyways, I am a beginner as well, good luck with your learning! 😉

June 24, 2019OuO760446배 and 위 are actually different. 배 is a general term for the belly. 위 is the body organ. For example, when you have a general stomachache, you wouldn’t say 위가 아파요, but 배가 아파요, because usually you don’t know exactly which internal organ causes the pain. Of course, if you know you’ve always had a stomach issue, you can specifically say 위가 아파요.June 26, 2019MeganSomersI see, thank you so much.
